After receiving a Pentax MV SLR camera with a 50mm lens as a graduation present.Jenny Powis joined the Cape Town Photographic Society in 1989 and began entering the monthly competitions held by the club.
She was awarded APSSA status in 2002 and has won numerous competitions in the landscape category as well as having some of her work published in various outdoor magazines and media,

The Johannesburg Photographic Society is the longest established club in the greater Johannesburg region and their mission is to help it’s members derive more enjoyment from the hobby of photography.
Affiliated to the Photographic Society of South Africa and with a range of techniques and ideas from the members, they cater for all varieties of camera users….. from beginners to advanced.
They have two meetings every month – the second one is a discussion meeting where prints and projected digital images are discussed amongst members of the club. Other club events and activities are also arranged like Photoshop workshops, inter club competitions and photo shoots.
