Come August / September each year, and everybody in South Africa, and many people around the world know that one of the biggest spectacles in Nature is about to happen: it’s the transformation of an arid, desert-like area, Namaqualand, into an awe-inspiring, dazzling, spectacular mass-display of wild flowers, and photography tours to Namaqualand takes you to an ocean of blue, pink and yellow flowers. Being part of a guided photographic tour to these wild flowers is a special event as well.
The peak flower season is usually from August to September, but sometimes you can see flowers as early as May, which can continue till early November. Leave the city behind; photography tours to Namaqualand will take us into a dramatic landscape with its huge rocks and succulents, opening our eyes to the fact that Namaqualand is not only a desert for the famous but transient flowers, but a permanent amphi-theatre of semi-desert grandeur, where a camera is an absolute necessity.

C4 Images is more than familiar with Namaqualand, we know it intimately, and have held photographic workshops which have always been fun and educational, blended with comfortable accommodation from which we make our daily photo excursions in small groups.
Namaqualand is a place that does not readily reveal its treasures. The course of history shows us that it was possible for the indigenous people to survive off the harsh land by listening to nature; we’ll be photographing some of the interesting people who live in the villages of Namaqualand and understand its history.
Photography tours to Namaqualand are highly recommend for experienced photographers and beginners alike; people don’t only come for the photography lessons; they come for the inspiration, because C4 Images combines a deep love of photography with an open and engaging teaching style.
